Time, and why we have it
Ever heard of someone "Doing Time"? Other than in a prison sense, the catch phrase doesn't really justify itself. Cobourg has decided to reinvent the phrase. With our new night club Alcatraz, it's not an uncommon thing to hear about people "Doing time" last night. I find this very gay. Anyway, on to brass tacks. Anybody out there heard of the plant known as Salvia? One of my coworkers was telling about it. It isn't a very new thing but anything different that arrives in Cobourg is cooler than sliced bread, and everyone will be doing it within a week. I'll shed a little light on the plant and why it has surfaced in cobourg recently. A friend was in toronto and got a hold of dried Salvia divinorum leaves. They are kind of brown and crumbly looking. He gave some to my coworker and told him to smoke it. Of course my coworker friend did it. He said it was something that he has never experienced before in his life. He felt drawn back into his seat and couldn't explain what happened for the next few minutes.
The plant itself has been used by Mazatec Shamans in ritual ceremonies for many years. One ethnobotanists' report I read said that if the right amount is taken with pure intentions and a clean heart, a vision of a "divine" woman appears and soothes you with her presence. Right off the bat this would seem as a bad hallucinagenic. The funny thing about this stuff is it doesn't seem to be harmful, at all. In fact, it is currently being studied to help cure drug addictions, cocaine and heroin for example. So, what does it do exactly? The psychoactive ingredient is called Salvinorin A. It's termed as a kappa-opoid receptor agonist, which means it docks on a receptor which causes a physiological stimulation. From many studies done, it appears that this is a true mind expanding drug. When a moderate concentration is taken, your body literally fades away and you are surrounded by an expanded universe. You forget what the restriction of time and physical matter are. This drug is not taken by casual users. It's deemed for use as a philosophical and healing narcotic. But it can't really be called a narcotic because it isn't illegal. The plant is a mint-type plant which comes from the sage family. Anyway, it's interesting stuff, probably not to most of you, but for a biochem nut like me it's something i use on Jeopardy in a few years.
And now on to work. Ever been doing group type work where everyone is supposed to do the same kind of thing? Except one person decides to not work and talk to everyone else working and then come in and tell you what your doing wrong. A guy did that do me yesterday. We were supposed to put a plastic sheeting down on the ground so weeds wouldn't grow into the pots we were placing there. At one point there was a small bunch in the plastic. I noticed the guy watching me and he didn't say anything to stop me. I proceeded to put the pot down half on the plastic and half on the ground. He promptly came over and told me to pick it up so he could move the plastic. First of all I saw his mind working on how to make me do more work and him to look like the genius. Second, after I pick the 100 pound pot up and put it down, he has the audacity to tell me to pick it up again so he can move a little piece of plastic. frig I love this job. Maybe it was the heat that got to me yesterday but I seemed to be in a pissy mood from about lunch time to three. But I gotta just put in the time. Screw time. Ever wonder what it would be like if everyone could control how fast their life went? Speed through the crappy times, slow down the good ones. Pipe dreams, I know.
And then there was last night. One of the best dreams I've had in a while. I was visited by two girls, one right after the other. The first was Hilary Duff. She came to the door and we hugged and talked and stuff. Then I was immediately taken to the next "scene" if you will. The other girl will remain nameless to preserve privacy. She came to the door as well and we hugged, for a lot longer than the previous time it seemed. We talked, the only thing I remember saying was how good she looked. Then we just kinda looked at each other. Anyway, I woke up happy. The sun was shining and I couldn't read my clock. I thought it was like 12 or 1, turned out to be 8:55am. That's the best thing I love right now, thinking I've slept in late but it's actually pretty early and I'm wide awake. Makes me feel like I can accomplish something today. That's enough for now.
Later peeps,

I find it interesting that you had almost identical dreams about two different girls. In your dream did you know Hilary Duff? Was she a personal friend, cause otherwise I'd say you reacted rather calm to be meeting someone so famous.
lates.

I know, back to back too. For the Hilary Duff part it was like I was almost watching myself instead of being inside myself. It felt like we were friends who hadn't seen each other for a long time. The other dream I was more myself.
